Belleville Family Medical Examination Room

We admit and treat our patients only at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville. St. Elizabeth's is a well-equipped hospital providing the most modern facilities in all branches of medical care. Its proximity to our Belleville office ensures that your doctor is always close by and available "at a moment's notice" when needed.

Because we are a Family Practice, we care for patients of all ages. Newborns, toddlers, teenagers, young adults and seniors all have their special needs. Our doctors understand that and will be able to provide the type of care that you and your family need.

All of our doctors are trained to provide complete well baby and pediatric care for children of all ages.

Our CLIA certified in-office laboratory is open for blood drawing Monday through Friday from 7:30am - 4:30pm, and Saturday from 7:30am - 11:30am (closed last Saturday of each month). No appointment is necessary.

The National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (National Registry) is a new Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) program.  All commercial drivers whose current medical certificate expired on or after May 21, 2014, at expiration of that certificate must be examined by a medical professional listed on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners.  Only medical examiners that have completed training and successfully passed a test on FMCSA's physical qualification standards will be listed on the National Registry.

Dr. Wallace Abel is certified to perform DOT (Department of Transportation) physical exams and is listed on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners.  He performs these physicals not only for patients of Belleville Family Medical but also for outside patients in need of certification.

Our doctors take turns being on call for your emergencies and are available for you 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. When medical problems arise after hours, on weekends, or during holidays, that cannot safely wait until the office opens, you can reach our doctor on call by calling our answering service at 618.234.4143. In the case of a serious emergency, go directly to St. Elizabeth's Emergency Department where a qualified staff physician will tend to your needs and notify us if warranted.

It is the right of patients to know their anticipated medical expenses. Please feel free to discuss fees with the staff.

We are participating physicians for Medicare and most other healthcare plans. Please inform our office staff if you are on Medicare. We will gladly complete and submit all your insurance claims forms for you at no cost. All patients must provide proof of insurance coverage at check-in. We will verify coverage via phone or online. Copies of your insurance card will be made each time you arrive for an appointment, regardless of time intervals. Please have your cards readily available for the receptionist.

If your account is over 90 days past due, you will be notified that you must settle your account. Partial payments will not be accepted, unless otherwise negotiated. Please be aware that if a balance remains unpaid, we may refer your account to a collection agency and you may be discharged from the practice. If this is to occur, you will be notified by certified mail that you have 30 days to find alternative medical care. During that 30-day period, our physicians will only be able to treat you on an emergency basis.

An on-the-job injury can often mean long waits in an emergency room, treatment by an unknown doctor, expensive hospital bills, excessive time off the job and higher workman's compensation insurance. Our six physician practice has the facilities, experience, and capacity to promptly treat almost all of the injuries, lacerations, or fractures that might occur at your work place.

We are the company doctor for many local employers and have saved them thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours of off-the-job time by our prompt treatment and return to work of their employees. If your business might be interested in learning how our services could cut your medical costs, please call our office. No contract or minimum number of employees is required.

We understand that sometimes you may be late for your appointment, however, if you do not arrive and check-in for your appointment prior to your scheduled time you may be required to reschedule. Our practice is committed to providing the best treatment to our patients, and keeping appointments on time is very important. It is our recommendation that you arrive 15 minutes early for an appointment to allow for the check-in process. If you do not keep an appointment, you may receive a phone call from the office. If this occurs more than twice, you will likely be discharged from the practice; at which time you will also be notified via certified letter informing you that you have 30 days to obtain a new physician. During that time, you will only been seen for emergency care within our practice. Please help us serve you better by keeping your scheduled appointment.
